Overview: Considering the general level of animosity between the n’kaf and the yowason, it is one of the deepest ironies in the Cynos Union that their two homeworlds were both produced by very similar processes. Both worlds, Sybal and Verij, are classed as ‘Chthonian analog’ planets; both of these worlds were originally gas giants, which had most of their atmospheres stripped away by as yet unknown processes, leaving a considerably thinner atmosphere around what was once the solid core of the original gas giant.

In the case of Verij, however, whatever processes were involved were considerably less extreme than those which shaped Sybal into its current form. Although its current atmosphere does not extend out into space anywhere near as far as the original gas giant did, it was left with a denser atmosphere than any other inhabited planet within the Cynos.

At the same time, the geology of Verij is very different to that of Sybal, with its core made up mostly of some kind of crystalline matrix, with solid iron deposits throughout (which manage to create a reasonably strong magnetic field). Because of this, and despite having the largest diameter of any Cynos homeworld (larger even than the sookas homeworld of Ceproval), Verij also has the lowest surface gravity, at only 0.7x Earth G. The combination of these two factors, as well as extensive canyon systems covering 90% of Verij’s land masses, created a unique ecosystem, one where there are very few animals that don’t fly or glide in some form.

In galactic terms, Verij is Earth’s neighbour, located a mere 600 light years from the Sol system.
