Overview: Tessitura is the homeworld the vossarulls, the political centre of the Vossarull Ensemble, and is described in travel brochures as an uplifting song in the silence, a world of a billion sonic treasures and a trillion aural delights. It is the vossarulls themselves that make it so, of course, as without their presence, Tessitura would simply be another ‘Terrestrial analog’ world, with a climate and biosphere very similar to that of Earth.

Home to approximately 9 billion vossarulls, Tessitura is one of the most densely populated planets within the Cynos Union, and this population is fairly evenly spread between equatorial and temperate regions; while some vossarulls prefer the warmth of the tropics, others prefer the hardier climes of the northern continents, as the believes it makes for a better type of song. The difference in climate is in fact reflected in the songs produced in these different regions; vossarull music coming from the tropics tends to be more laid back, befitting their lifestyle, while music from the northern vossarulls tends to be heavier and more powerful, not unlike human ‘heavy metal’ music.

Tessitura, despite its reputation as a tourist hotspot, also has the highest incidence of crime within the Cynos Union, although the vast majority of it is organised crime, led by three distinct families: the Profundo and Sforzando families, both from the tropical regions, with the Sforzando family based close to the capital city of Stanza; and the Schwungvoll family from the northern regions. Nowadays, fortunately, these three families have mostly transitioned into legitimate business, after realising that it doesn’t pay to keep killing one’s customers in turf wars.
